Work and education as life skills goals

Work or education may be one part of a more purposeful life. We begin with the person and the family around them.

Find a meaningful direction

A useful goal might be exploring interests, researching a course or understanding what a particular job requires. The Leader’s priorities and current circumstances shape the next step. Work is one possible focus within the family plan, rather than a requirement for every participant.

Build the everyday habits around it

Routines, time management, communication and following through all contribute to readiness. Practical exercises can help the person choose an action, prepare for it and reflect on what happened. Specialist training or careers advice can be considered separately where needed.

Agree the family’s part

Supporters can offer encouragement and agreed practical help while leaving ownership of applications, attendance and decisions with the person pursuing the goal. Tod helps clarify these responsibilities within the family’s wider work. ēdge provides guidance and life skills support; employment and qualifications are not promised outcomes.

Find your starting point.

A brief enquiry helps Tod understand the kind of support you are looking for. There is no enrolment commitment.
